J.Morais (Vigo, Spain) is a multidisciplinary filmmaker and visual artist with more than two decades of experience in animation, illustration, and visual arts. Throughout his career, he has contributed to seven animated feature films, as well as numerous international television series and advertising campaigns, collaborating with leading studios and creative teams.

His professional journey has taken him to studios and production companies across Portugal, the United Kingdom, India, and Germany, where he collaborated with internationally recognized companies such as Toonz Media Group, keyFrame Studios, SHPG Group and BMW Group. These experiences allowed him to develop extensive expertise across multiple areas of animation production, particularly production design, 3D modeling, and character rigging, establishing him as a versatile filmmaker with a comprehensive understanding of the audiovisual production pipeline.

His work has received extensive international recognition, earning more than 250 awards worldwide. Among his most acclaimed films is The Painter of Skies (2010), which has been honored at numerous international festivals and screened in over 75 countries. His latest short film, In Half (2024), has won more than 180 awards at international film festivals, was preselected for the Goya Awards, and has been selected for presentation at SIGGRAPH Asia 2025.

In 2025, Morais received the prestigious Golden Monkey King Award at CICAF, one of Asia’s highest distinctions in animation. He became the first European artist to receive this honor, underscoring the international impact and artistic relevance of his work.

He is currently developing several new directing projects that further expand the scope of his creative vision, including an ambitious international co-production that marks a significant step in his artistic evolution. With an increasingly distinctive cinematic voice, Morais continues to explore the intersection of personal storytelling, visual experimentation, and contemporary animation.

I remain driven by the desire to explore new ideas, experiment with different forms of visual storytelling, and create films that resonate with audiences beyond cultural and geographical boundaries.
